Pledge Manager delay
over 3 years ago – Sat, Oct 03, 2020 at 12:43:26 AM

Hello Everyone!

We would like to apologize very much for the delay in the opening of the Pledge Manager. We know from experience that usually it does not take that long - everything has already been completed in BackerKit, the partners have finally sent us the remaining data, but the system has to process all this and give permission to test the invitations. This is done by a real person, and as the weekend is free time for them we will have to wait until next week. We plan to send the test on Monday, so the pledge manager will open on Tuesday/Wednesday.

Once again, we apologize for such a long delay. Please have a little more patience until the Pledge Manager is open.

Peace and Victory!
almost 4 years ago – Tue, Jul 14, 2020 at 08:52:00 PM

Hello, Soldiers!

Thank you very much for supporting our project. Without backers, we wouldn't have been able to achieve such a success and unlock so many stretch goals for inclusion in the core box, and which otherwise would either never have been in the game box or would only be available as a paid expansion. Now we want to catch our breath, but don't worry, we'll be back with news from the battlefield soon.

The most important thing is that all backers will receive an enhanced version of Domination in June 2021. If you are wondering how to pay for the shipment and provide your address you shouldn't worry  – in a few weeks we should be starting the Pledge Manager (BackerKit), where you will be able to fill in all the data and possibly add extras (Play mat, Cardholders or our other games).

Once again, thank you very much for choosing to believe in our project and supporting us! You don't even know how much fun it is to create games that will give joy to others.

Fête nationale française & French Edition

While our French friends celebrate July 14th, so we do at PHALANX as this very date marks the birthday of Waldemar, one of the company founders. Because of that, please accept a small present, fully localised French Edition of the game.

The next few steps:

Please read the following info, as this is very important post-campaign data that all of you need to know:

1. We will be setting up the pledge manager as soon as possible – we will be using BackerKit.com. It will allow you to:

  • manage your pledges (check your items, add or remove items from your pledge, choose language editions of your items),

  • purchase extra copies of the game, add-ons, etc.,

  • enter your delivery address(es).

Please do not send us messages containing the above information, as we will be unable to process it. These kinds of choices are made in the pledge manager ONLY.

2. People who have missed the campaign will be able to pre-order the game in the pledge manager. You will be able to buy the add-ons as well, but you won't be able to get the Kickstarter exclusive set.

3. Once the pledge manager is open, you will receive an email notification. There is also going to be a separate update. You really can’t miss it, although please check your spam email from time to time ;)

4. The pledge manager should go live 1-2 months after the campaign is finished, as we need to make the final quotes for shipping based on the number of backers from each country, and set up all the products in the manager. It will be live for another 2 months. The pledge manager works like a standard webshop where you choose the items you want to get for your credit (the amount pledged during the campaign). You will be able to increase your credit, and pay for shipping and any add-ons you have chosen.

5. Current payments are processed by Kickstarter, so please contact their help desk if you have any problems with charging your cards. Sorry, but we can't help you in any way, as this is run solely by Kickstarter and we have no influence over this process.

6. We will keep you updated about game development and the status of production. We won’t be spamming, but we will try making at least one update every 2 months, or more often if there is anything important to share.

Coalitions

It took us a lot of time to follow what is happening on the campaign, prepare content for you and analyze what we could improve to make the site more readable and say everything you would like to know about the game. In the meantime, part of the team has started preparing for the opening of the preview page Coalitions, our new project that will be launched later this year.

If you want to experience the uniqueness of the great revolutions and Napoleonic wars, take the role of a leader at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries, and plot out a nuanced course between war and diplomacy, then this is the game for you. It is for 2 to 6 players, with an extremely engaging and unique alliance mechanism.

Please look at the preview page to find out more. And if you think it's a game for you - don't forget to click "Notify me on Launch".

The Solo Mode!
almost 4 years ago – Tue, Jul 14, 2020 at 04:12:04 PM

Hello Everyone!

A quick, short update just before the end of the campaign.

The Solo Mode will be designed specifically for Domination, so the game will be for 1 and 4 players. This will be the last stretch goal if we can raise £75,000, or a paid add-on in the Pledge Manager if this does not happen.

The Solo Mode is a set of special cards that brings to the game an automa that controls the enemy faction.

Stretch goals final vote!
almost 4 years ago – Tue, Jul 14, 2020 at 01:57:11 AM

Hello Everyone!

Resistance and Heavy Bombers expansions will be facing each other in the last vote for the stretch goals. The vote will be different this time, as the votes from both Facebook and BGG will be added. And the winning stretch goal will be unlocked first.

The Heavy Bombers Expansion adds to the gamevfour new technology cards (also a new symbol will appear on the tech board). The technology allows players using a second bomber. Each model will be unique to each power: Germany will get a Me-264, UK a Lancaster, US the famous B-17,  Japan a Nakajima G-8N and USSR will be armed with a Pe-8.

And if you thought that's enough of the stretch goals, you're mistaken! As soon as the Heavy Bombers Expansion and Resistance  Expansion are unlocked, we have a little surprise waiting.

THE ICONIC T-34 TANK

When the Soviet Union was invaded by the Wehrmacht on June 1941, it had a  considerable tank force, consisting of 25,000 armored fighting vehicles. However, most of these tanks were inferior to German armor.   The most effective tanks that the Soviets had were KV-1 -KV-2 heavy tanks and T-34 medium tanks, but the Soviets only had a small number of these: About 1,000 T-34 and 500 KV tanks, concentrated in five mechanized corps. The existence of the T-34 and KV tanks, encountered for the first time at the Battle of Raseiniai on June 23 came as a shock  to German soldiers, who had expected to face an inferior enemy!

In  1937, the Soviet Army had requested the replacement of the BT series.  Design Bureau KB-190 led by Mikhail Koshkin began the development of a new type of frontline tank based on the BT-IS and BT-SV/2 concept vehicles.  The T-34, which entered production in September 1940, was superior to any tank the Germans had in service at the time, with its thick sloped armor, a Christie suspension, wide tracks, and a larger 76mm gun,  effective until 800m. All existing German tanks, even the Panzer III and  IV series, were immediately outdated. With a weight of 26t, the T-34  was probably the most combat-capable tank in the world with a good balance of ruggedness, speed, firepower and armor protection, although  German tanks had better optics and radios, enabling coordinated team combat.

In the early T-34s, only the company commanders (one out of ten) were fitted with radio, while the rest still had to use flags for signaling.  And then there was the ill-trained, inexperienced tanker crews, thrown into battle piecemeal. Other issues included a cramped interior and bad turret design, rough transmission, rough ride, and poor reliability, as many tanks had production flaws or mechanical breakdowns, caused by hasty manufacturing errors, even before engaging the enemy. But the  T-34, with its comparatively simple manufacture, was also designed for easy maintenance in the field.

The T-34 replaced all existing light and medium tanks of the Soviet arsenal. The Germans were so impressed that they used its design as a basis to start designing their own Panther tank. With more than 80,000 built, the T-34 became the most-produced tank of WW2. The key emphasis was clearly on sheer numbers. It came with a price: half of them were lost during that period.

World's heaviest tank may enter the game!
almost 4 years ago – Mon, Jul 13, 2020 at 11:56:50 AM

Hello Everyone!

There will be no social goals fight today. Instead there will be Total Domination challenge!

Here comes the Maus, the heaviest tank built during the World War II. And despite the fact it probably never took part in combat, and was just barely completed, all this can change under your command. In Domination  one can change the course of history and lead the Axis to the victory.

What if the Axis develop the technology  and acquire resources to get that combat advantage? What if the Allies hear the Mouse roar?

Maus can be one of the models in the game as long as its gets 250 interactions in total! On BGG, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter! What kind of interactions? Anything goes: reactions, sharing and comments!

THE ROYAL NAVY'S ROAD TO WAR AND THE QUEEN ELIZABETH-CLASS BATTLESHIPS.

At the outbreak of WW2, the Royal Navy was still the largest naval force in the world.  It was a heterogeneous force of WW1, modernized, and recently completed ships that included 15 battleships and battlecruisers, 7 aircraft carriers, 66 cruisers, 184 destroyers, 60  submarines and 45 patrol vessels for a total of 332 warships. The composition of the Royal Navy’s capital ships still depended largely on two classes of battleships: Five ships from the Queen Elizabeth-class  (1913), and another five from the Revenge-class (1916), while the  Nelson-class (1922) provided two more inter-war battleships. Then, there were the three battlecruisers: Renown, Repulse (1916) and finally Hood (1920).
The Washington/London naval treaties had set a capital ships ratio of  5:5:3 in favor of Britain and the U.S. vs Japan. On the other hand, the  Royal Navy also had the largest global trading network, an endless lines of merchant shipping and communication to defend. It was also needed to defend the home islands. The military budget allocated to aviation or the army, was tiny in comparison. On the technical side, the Royal Navy pioneered early warning radars and aircraft carriers, with the Ark Royal (1937) being the first true carrier. On the downside, the Fleet Air Arm  was equipped with obsolescent aircraft, and the warships entered WW2  with few modern anti-aircraft guns.
The Royal Navy’s primary task was the control of the North Sea and most of the Atlantic against the German Navy, while in the Mediterranean, defense would be shared between both the British Navy and the French  Navy against Italy. Until May 1940, the main threat came from German  U-Boats operating in the North Sea and South Western Approaches. The  Admiralty considered that if Japan was to attack British interests in the Far East, the defense of the Mediterranean would be entirely left to the Royale, in order to move the largest possible fleet to the newly completed base of Singapore.
The Queen Elizabeth-Class was the spearhead of the Home Fleet throughout the interwar period. The super dreadnoughts of this class were among the finest battleships ever built. They were far superior in firepower,  armor and speed to the previous Iron Duke-class. At 24 knots, they were even considered to be the first fast battleships. After outstanding service during the Great War, the five Queen Elizabeth-class received significant upgrades, especially HMS Queen Elizabeth, HMS Warspite and HMS Valiant that were almost completely redesigned between 1937 and 1941. The main armament was the 15-inch (38.1 cm) in twin turrets, the most efficient and accurate heavy gun ever developed by the Royal Navy as a response to the Bayern-class, the new generation of super dreadnoughts Germany was building at the time. HMS Warspite still holds the record of the longest shell-hit ever scored by one battleship on another in combat when on  July 9, 1940, Warspite hit Italian Giulio Cesare battleship at a range of more than 24 km!
