Stand at attention, soldiers!

Thanks to your great support we are getting closer to reach the funding goal. 80% is completed. 20% is still required. Once we are over 40,000 GBP, the excess funds can be spent by the community of backers on certain SGs. This will be decided by voting, held on BGG.

As you can see on the campaign page, the first line (level) has 4 options, each of a different value. It will be up to you, what to reveal first.

RADAR TECHNOLOGY Expansion

New game components:

4 new cards added to the deck.

Radar (technology) – protects you against Rocket technology (you discard one card less when you are a target of Rocketry technology).

Science (event) – allows you to secretly take one card from a discard pile and place it face down as usual when playing a technology card.

Played well, it can be a very powerful card, despite having only 3 OPs value.

TECHNOLOGY BOARD upgrade

Technology boards now become recessed (double layer)!

Over 50 cubes will be added to easily mark the developed techs and OPs required for each action.

Every time you develop a technology you move (or remove) a cube linked with that technology on (or from) your Technology board.

The cubes for Army, Navy and Logistic technologies are moved to cover an OP icon under specific technologies, reducing the OP cost of various actions.

FRANCE Expansion

France becomes a separate Allied Power!

It will fix one of the issues discussed in the previous edition of the game (called Mini WWII). France will no longer contain a Neutral Army but will start as an Allied Nation.

New game components in this expansion:

-  1 French Army

-  1 French Fleet

-   France capitulation marker

The powerful Char 1B miniature (1:300 scale) is ready to fight against German tanks. The modern battleship Richelieu miniature (1:4500 scale) will support the Royal Navy.

However, the Allies must be careful. Should territory of France be occupied by the Axis at the end of the year, Vichy France will switch sides and join the Axis. Then, the Allies will have to struggle to liberate France and to establish the Free French government.

ITALY expansion

Italy is now a separate Axis Power!

Italy was dreaming about Mare Nostrum. But in fact, it was regarded as a “soft belly” of the Axis in Europe.

New game components in this expansion:

- 1 Italian Army

- 1 Italian Fleet

- Italy capitulation marker

The Littorio class battleship (1:4500) is an invaluable support to the inferior German naval power. The M13 tank miniature (1:300) represents the light forces which can surprise even the Desert Rats.

However, should territory of Italy be occupied by the Allies at the end of the year, Italy will switch sides and join the Allies. Then, the Axis will have to struggle to conquer Italy again and to establish the Salo Republic government.

So, which one would you choose first?

Funded and Stretch goals! Stretch goals on the horizon!
almost 4 years ago – Thu, Jun 25, 2020 at 07:58:34 PM

Stand at attention, soldiers!

This is the day of total Domination! The game was funded and it's all due to you! Thank you for supporting, sharing, and encouraging others to support the project. It is extremely important for us to reach people who are interested in this topic, because the designer approached it in a quite unique and unexpected way.

Stretch goals!

Stretch goals will be unlocked once they reach the appropriate financial threshold. Backers will decide which stretch goals will be unlocked first after the game is funded. The cost shown for each stretch goal means how much needs to be added to the total amount GBP to be able to unlock it (e.g. 40.000 + 2.000 + 3.000 etc.).

You can now vote for the first stretch goals that will appear in the game box!

Stay safe!

Achtung Panzer!

Stand at attention, soldiers!

Starting with the Colonel’s pledge, each game of Domination will be accompanied by a Deluxe Miniature Set. Today we would like to present the Tank miniatures, which are a replacement for the Army counters.

The models are made in 1:300 scale. Here are some pictures and short notes on each type of tank (a courtesy of Dr. Eric Pinzelli ).

Germany: Panzer IV

The Panzer IV’s production began in 1936 at the Krupp-Grusonwerk AG factory situated in Magdeburg. It was designed for a crew of five, composed of a commander, gunner and loader in the turret and a driver along with a machine gunner / radio-operator in the front part of the hull. The communication between the crew was made by intercom. The Pz. IV had a cupola, offering the commander 360 degree vision. But the German commanders almost always fought head out, giving them better vision, hearing, and situational awareness. The first models were armed with a short 7.5 cm KwK 37 L/24 close-support infantry gun. The short barrel (only 1.7 m long) howitzer of the Panzer IV firing high explosive shells was deemed suitable against antitank guns, fortifications, blockhouses and pillboxes, as it could penetrate 43 mm of armor at 700 m. Secondary armament comprised a 7.92 mm MG machine gun in the turret, and another 7.92 mm MG mounted in a ballmount in the front of the hull. It had a top road speed of 42 km/h. Its asymmetrical hull was provided with up to 80 mm of armor on the hull front in the later variants. Panzer IV Ausf. D was the first production model and remained in service until 1944.

After encountering the outstanding T – 34s and heavy KVs, the Panzer IVs were given an anti-tank role, but only after being up-gunned and up-armored. From March 1942, new variants of the Panzer IVs and StuG IIIs received a derivative of the 7.5 cm PaK 40 anti-tank gun: the longer-barreled 7.5 cm KwK 40.

USSR: T-34

In 1937, the Soviet Army had requested the replacement of the BT series. Design Bureau KB-190 led by Mikhail Koshkin began development of a new type of frontline tank based on the BT-IS and BT-SV/2 concept vehicles. The T-34, which entered production in September 1940, was superior to any tank the Germans had in service at the time, with its thick sloped armor, a Christie suspension, wide tracks, and a larger 76 mm gun which was effective up to 800 m. All existing German tanks, even the Panzer III and IV series, were immediately outdated. With a weight of 26 t, the T-34 was probably the most combat capable tank in the world with a good balance of ruggedness, speed, firepower and armor protection, although German tanks had better optics and radios, enabling coordinated team combat.

UK: Crusader

The Crusader tank was one of the primary British cruiser tanks during the early part of WW2.

The Crusader was faster than any tanks it opposed, but its potential was limited by a relatively light  gun, thin armour, and mechanical problems. The Crusader's 2-pounder (40 mm) gun was as effective as the short-barrelled 50 mm of the Panzer III but it was out-ranged by the short-barrelled 75 mm of the Panzer IV. Despite the many problems, the Crusader was successful in combat against Axis tanks, using its better mobility and greater capability to fire on the move and to strike at vehicle weak spots.

USA: M3 Lee

The U.S. Army needed a medium tank armed with a 75 mm gun. The design was a compromise meant to produce a tank as soon as possible. The M3 had considerable firepower and good armor, but had serious drawbacks in its general design and shape. The main weapon 75 mm gun  was in an offset sponson mounted in the hull. A small turret with a lighter 37 mm gun sat on top of the tall hull.

Its first action took place in the North African desert campaign. Its appearance was a surprise to the Germans, who were unprepared for the M3's 75 mm gun. At this time Rommel noted: "Up to May of 1942, our tanks had in general been superior in quality to the corresponding British types. This was now no longer true, at least not to the same extent."

Japan: Type 89

Development of the first Japanese-designed tank began in June 1925. A team of engineers participated in the development of the medium main battle tank, including Major Tomio Hara who became the head of the tank development department. Inspired by the British Vickers Medium Mark C, the Type 89 was Japan’s first production tank. This 12.8 t tank had a crew of 4, a 57 mm gun, and a maximum speed of 26 km/h. Only 400 were produced in two variants. The Type 89 served with Japanese infantry divisions and first saw combat during the First Battle of Shanghai in 1932 in an urban type of warfare. By 1933, the Japanese army had created its first three tanks units. In 1938, two tank groups were formed to control Manchuria’s borders with the Soviet Union; they were equipped with the entire range of models in service.

Neutrals: R35

Before the start of World War Two in Europe, France had delivered a number of Renault R35 light support tanks that had been ordered by Poland and the Little Entente: 50 to Poland (1939), 41 to Romania (1939) and 54 to Yugoslavia (1940). This 10.6  metric ton light tank was designed to replace the aging FT models and begn to enter production in 1935. It had a crew of two, a top speed of 20 km/h, and thick 43 mm frontplate armor. The short barrel, high rate of fire, 37mm SA 18 gun, with its rather low velocity, was still packing enough punch to destroy the Panzer I and IIs, but was inferior to the Panzer III and IV.

(please note that the models in the pictures are merely resin prototypes and the final production quality will be much much higher).

First social goal and French edition!
almost 4 years ago – Thu, Jun 25, 2020 at 07:24:43 PM

Stand at attention, soldiers!

Lots of people asked for a French edition of Domination and although we still haven't received a response from a potential publishing partner, we decided to make this option available! If we can reach 150 French-language backers, we will issue a French edition. That is why we are asking for support in sharing this message, informing players about Domination on French forums and in French groups about board games.

Social goal: 7 damage marker!

It's time to announce the first social goal, which can be unlocked and added to the box only for Kickstarter backers (KS exclusive)! All you need is 100 shares of a special Facebook post and 50 interactions with special graphics on BGG (both below).

The rule is simple: you share a special post on Facebook and give a thumbs up for the special graphic on BGG - when you collect 50 actions on BGG and 100 shares on FB, the social goal will be unlocked.

7 damage markers will go in the boxes of all pledge backers (not for sponsors with 1 GBP).

The damage markers replace the damage tokens.

almost 4 years ago – Tue, Jun 23, 2020 at 12:33:26 AM

Stand at attention, soldiers!

Italian and Spanish backers can now grab a weapon (computer mouse or phone)! We have found publishing partners in their countries - which means that these players will be able to enjoy Domination in their native language!

Maldito Games will support us on the Spanish side, and Pendragon Game Studio will become the publisher of the Italian edition if at least 150 Italian backers are gathered.

Stand at ease!
